Windows Home Server on AHCI?

Hi All,

I just got Windows Home Server OEM.

When trying to install this with AHCI on in the BIOS it shows all my drives without having to load additional drivers. Then during it copied files to the HD and restarts. After that the normal Windos Setup begins.

It asks once again to press F6 if you have drivers to load. Since it didnt need them at the beginnign i didnt think i needed them now. So i don't press F6, then i get the Blue Screen Of Death. I am concerned about this since i woudl have expected it to give me a normal error of some kind saying disk not detected, but the BSOD seems a bit crud.

I do need to go dig up my IDE floppy drive and get the SATA driver on this? I'm not using raid or anything, just AHCI.

Not sure if it's worth all the hassle. I wont be doing much hot swapping and i don't know if native command queueing is to be that much faster?

Fo transferring files to and from the server i will use a gigabit ethernet connetion...this means a theoritical 125MB/s transfer. I suppose this makes the hard drive the bottleneck and not the NIC right?

Guess I'll try to floppy drive route and find out...I'd like to get it setup using AHCI, but don't know if it's going to work if it keeps BSOD'ing on me.
