Windows XP machine died

Hi folks,

My Windows XP machine died today. The only machine I have is mac book pro and it doesn't have any serial port. I need to create new rules for my lawn sprinkler system since I spread seeds on my whole backyard. I don't want the seeds to dry out since it just started raining 5 mins ago. I am not sure what to do. I don't have an ethernet module on my M1 Gold.

Please help.

Thanks!

You can manually start each zone at the manifold by hand in your sprinkler box.  Kind of primative but it works.

Send me a PM.

You could also use the Elk keypad to manually turn the outputs that control your sprinklers on and off.   Unfortunately, you can't enter a rule through the keypad.  So until you get another system running with RP2, you're stuck with manual operation.

I'm aware of all of those like turning the valve counter clockwise as well as the keypad. Since these are new seeds, it requires 4 times watering the whole day and each last for 5-8 mins per sprinkler head. Unfortunately, I won't be home tomorrow until 6:30pm. I went to bestbuy and bought usb to serial. I'm going to install virtualbox and winxp on my osx and hopefully it will work. Can I just download ElkRP then once it's connected, it will download all the configuration on my M1? I remember it's possible but the last time I did it was like year 2009 :D That's how stable/durable our ElkM1 is :D

OMG, it will take 2 days before I will be able to download ELKRP software :( ouch!!!

Thank you so much! I also found a backup of my ElkRP directory. When I ran it, I got an error "activex control - can't create object". Also it said before this error, could not find operator's database. The ElkRP directory backup was from year 2012 though I didn't do a lot of changes.

Ok, I got ElkRP v2 running on a virtual machine though I haven't tried connecting it yet. How can I download settings from my M1? I couldn't remember anymore.

If you click on Send/Receive and then Receive All, that should do it.

Ok, doing it now. Took me a while to get VirtualBox and usb-serial driver for osx to get recognized by Windows.

I'm getting good signs and feedback from the m1. However, before I was able to start, I picked m1(std). I was wrong. I should have picked M1 Custom database. Then it complained about serial number not matching.

Then I got this

I'm good now :) I tested the sprinklers and each zone turn on

Thank you so much everyone especially you Ral for the software. :)
