Wireway in cans

Gents,

How do you attach the wireways in the cans?

I understand they attahced to the sides and must go in after the modules are in since the slightly overlap.

Are they screwed in place?

I plan to surface mount the cans and don't want sharp screw sticking out the side..

yeah..wire ducting, panduit...that kind of stuff...

Don't these self tapping screws stick out with a surface mounted can?

Maybe i should just mount the can between the studs, but i through it would be easier to have acces to the side openings for future connectivity.

you could gorilla glue them, or use those new velcro strips (it's not really velcro, it's much stronger).

I have several Leviton and one Elk can. I simply drill out a small pilot hole and use self taping screws. I keep a few different sizes in a bin and grab the necessary size. This weekend I placed my Verizon POT NID and FIOS NIC in a Leviton 42. Centered and mounted everything. Also ran a 15amp circuit and placed a receptacle in a steel jbox at the bottom of the can. With it flushed mounted, it really works nice, especially with the power. For me, this was wife approved and it will look even sweeter once I drywall the spot of the basement.

If you surface mount it, any screw will go into the drywall behind. So it should work either way.
