X10 and HAI Omni II Pro

Hi,

As there are no installation instructions for connecting X10 powerline module and configuring it for HAI Omni Pro II, I am hoping someone here will be able to help.

I purchased the X10 Powerline Interface and connected it via a regular RJ11 telephone cord to one of the serial ports on the Omni Pro II which I am assuming is the correct way to connect these two.

Then, on the PC Dealer Access software, I have done the following:

Units >> Dealer Setting>> House Code: A
X-10 3-Phase: No
Expansion Enclosure: 1 (I did not add an expansion and left it as 1 since I have a wireless receiver connected to the Omni)


Units>> House Code Format : Standard
(it will also configure itself as B1 / BR1-17) and I configured an X10 Lamp module to be set at B1

Is there anything else I need to do cause I cannot get Omni to turn the lamp on X10 B1 to turn on.

Hooman,

HAI controllers use the X10 TW523 to connect to the powerline. The TW523 connects to the dedicated X10 modular connector at the top of the OmniPro II board-- NOT a serial port modular connector. The installation instructions are in the OmniPro II Installation Manual, which you should have received with your OmniPro II controller.

The settings you have shown in your post look correct, except that with the "House Code" set to "A", HAI units 1-16 will correspond to X10 A1-A16 and HAI units 17-32 will correspond to units B1-B16. To control B1 with "House Code" set to "A", you need to have "HC 2 Format" set to "Standard".

On a related topic, can I configure an X10 Motion sensor for use with the HAI Omni Pro II?

The OmniPro II can receive X10 transmissions (such as "A1 ON") that can be used to trigger automation programming. I believe that the X10 flood lights with motion detector send out such a command. If you are talking about an X10 RF motion detector, you would have to find some way to convert the RF signal to a powerline signal.

As Brian already confirmed, you would indeed need a device which converts the RF signal to PLC since the HAI panel doesn't support the W800RF32. 2 popular options are the V572A Transceiver (UPB version: UPB572 Transceiver), or the older X10 TM751 Transceiver, which does work, but doesn't support DS10A's or multiple house codes (which I doubt would be an issue). I think I still have a TM751 laying around, if you want it, it's yours for the cost of shipping.

Do keep in mind that X-10 motion sensors shouldn't be used for security.

Another thing to remember with X10 Motion Sensors. They have a Dusk Dawn Feature [well some think it is a feature]. It sends an on and off signal at dusk and dawn on the motion sensors address plus one for the Unit Code.
So motion lets say is M1. Dusk Dawn is M2.
