z wave controled motor

I have run some 18/2 to my window locations and plan on having the wife make some roman style shades. I was wondering about the availability of a z wave controled motor to run them.
Anything like that out there?

i currently have the ESI via Draper, the Techniku, and RS Scene Automation's zwave motorized shades sitting in my office. i was borrowing them for testing but i can try to answer whatever specific questions you have regarding them. i have to return them soon though (probably sometime next week) so you might want to let me know this weekend.

Dean do you have prices on this type of set up? Do you know how these two items play together. For instance when the zwave motor control gets the on signal what stops the unit when its all the way up?

Twilo123, are these retro fit units or do we have to get there fabric on these? How much are we talking for these?

they are demo units for testing with my zwave iphone app.

i have a/c units from techniku and esi. d/c from rs scene automation

i am not sure about fabric but the units i have:

1. draper sells the fabric. my unit came with fabric on it.

2. techniku came with fabric on it.

3. rs scene automation is just zwave piece and motor.

i can make a video if you are seriously interested showing you them in action. probably on monday i can send you the link.

i know rs scene automation and the ESI units are just hardware if you want. you don't have to buy any fabric from them. Draper was reselling the ESI and they sell fabric so they put it on for my tests. techniku i am not sure about. again it was a demo unit so it came with fabric.

i have not seen them in an actual integration yet but would be interested in seeing how you made out if you decide to use them.

I don't have a price on the z-Wave controller, but based on the other items in their line, my guess is $200.

The BTX unit for for Roman shades has stops built into the motor, so the ESI module simply feeds the hot side of the line to the appropriate winding depending on desired direction. There are four leads, white (common) green (ground) black (hot) red (hot the other direction). That's the code all the way through the BTX AC selection.

The B9 Roman shade unit is motor, shaft and rollers mounted on a 1x4 only. It's for your seamstress to use to mount the Roman Shade fabric she sews on.

BTX prices are set by the dealers. The price of the B9 system varies by width, but I would expect a 48" wide unit to sell for around $700.

The BTX stuff is pricey, but extremely reliable and lasts forever.

I don't personally know of any other motorized Roman shades systems, but they probably exist. Probably not in Z-wave, however.

With the BTX system, you're going to have $1000 per shade invested plus your wife's labor and fabric cost.
