I have the Omni Pro II with about 40 UPB's that was installed back in 2013. I'm using the system for mainly home automation, but also for security. The system was installed by a sound/security guy with rudimentary knowledge about the overall system, integration and programming. He has since moved out of town and I have zero local professional assistance.
I actually went to Leviton's training center in LA to try and get some knowledge on how to use this system a few years ago. But the training was substandard and the 2 day event spent more time screwing wires to a block than teaching programming and how to get the most out of the system. A few months ago I contacted Leviton directly and asked them for a 'guru' in my area. I had to have a guy come from 70 miles away. His knowledge was very basic, had us install Upstart, spent a ton of time (and money) going through and reprogramming each switch only to have the one bit of sanity with this system totally disrupted. I had Snaplink and Haiku Helper working properly and now none of the labels are correct and both apps are totally unusable.
I am totally frustrated with the system, not good with the complex programming stuff or even ability to think about what the best-practices are for the system. I really dislike having to be at the mercy of a professional installer to come out and do minor programming stuff every time I want to make a few tweaks. I am 100% mac but have to keep a Windows laptop around just to get into the HAI system. I feel like I am working with 1985 technology here that is so unfriendly to the novice user.
If anyone has any suggestion on where I go from here I would greatly appreciate the input.
