ElkRMS Runs on Mac OSX!

So I know I need to do a real write-up/tutorial, and I'll get to that as soon as I can... but for the mean time, I wanted to share this.

Despite being too tired to keep my head up, I decided to see if I could make ElkRMS run on my macbook. I knew of Wine and WineBottler, but had never once attempted using it. I downloaded and installed the latest version of Wine and WineBottler and downloaded ElkRMS onto my MacBook... I pointed WineBottler at the installer, and for dependencies, chose .Net2.0 and ran the installer - and in no time at all I had a working version of ElkRMS on my MacBook Pro!!!

Getting the installer key was probably the biggest hassle - trying to get it entered correctly - but as soon as I did, I had a beautifully-performing local copy of ElkRMS controlling my lights and security!

Thanks for the update. I have tried Wine many times, without any success, but noticed they have been posting many updates in the last few months, so I was wondering if it would work now.

I'm not having luck trying to run ElkRP under wine.. Has anyone tried?

I wasn't daring enough to try RP yet; you'll have to find the right .Net libraries and probably something to handle the database communication. I've just been running RP on a windows machine that I can remote into or in a VM. VirtualBox for the Mac is free and works pretty well.
