WebControl: $35 Web- and email-enabled data acquisition and control

I received mine today. I noticed the temp is in centigrade. Is there any way to change that? I also noticed dip switches/lights and jumpers. The technical manual doesn't have any info on these. Is there more documentation that could explain the dip switches and what the green and red light mean...

Mini-review: Distributed Audio using ESS modules

Homeseer and ESS. I plan on ordering what I need over the next few days. If no-one has started an HS plugin I will . I've created a HS plugin for the Caddx panel and this doesn't seem that difficult. And like the Caddx plugin it would be free. I will post both here and in the HS forums once I...

IP camera for front door camera

I am pretty sure I have the 2nd generation. I would agree that the software isn't the best but it works well enough for me. I usually am looking only at one camera at a time. There is a somewhat active group that develops software for it but I haven't tried any of it. Again, the investment was a...

IP camera for front door camera

I've had one of these IP 9100a Video servers in service for about 2 years without any problems. At less than $100 for 4 cameras, I thought it was worth a try and it proved to be a good buy. They can be controlled via web browser and there is a basic API for programing if you desire.

Mini-review: Distributed Audio using ESS modules

Thanks for the excellent review. Do note the following on the ESS page. That is pretty good customer service.

    Automated Outlet - CLASS ACT!

I had an issue where the manufacturer of a component had some strict rules for returns. AO made it their problem and solved it for me. Their prices and shipping are always the best. They get my business and my recommendation.

Using DS10a with CRMagnetics current switch

The instructions in the Caddx setup have an option that tells it if it is sensor is to be normally closed or normally opened. Here is the actual verbiage. I don't have to set Option 2 if the NX650 uses only the internal reed switches. But if the magnet works with the elk panel, then I would...

Using DS10a with CRMagnetics current switch

Not sure how it works on the Elk but on a Caddx panel you need to program the Nx650 differently to allow the use of the external wire leads. I think it also will disable the internal reed switch. Not an answer but hopefully a clue! Have you tried the Nx650 with just an standard magnetic sensor...

RADIANT BARRIER ATTIC GUARD FOIL:Is it worth it?

After reading the Icynene website, it seems like it is the same as spray on foam. I complete agree with its benefits and value but if you are a do-it-yourselfer then try Handi-Foam which is sold here

RADIANT BARRIER ATTIC GUARD FOIL:Is it worth it?

I have a house that has an addition over the Garage and thus 2 different roofs/attics. The one with shade from the trees has no radiant barrier the one directly in the sun has a radiant barrier against the roof (not the floor of the attic). The one with a radiant barrier is noticeably cooler in...

    New, CHEAP, Ultra Mobile PC

The browser that comes with it is firefox. I use it constantly and it works as well as it does on Windows where I also use it almost exclusively. The only drawback to the linux OS is that it doesn't support the higher resolutions that the eeepc is capable of and because the eeepc is so small I...

    New, CHEAP, Ultra Mobile PC

On the original subject of an eee pc, I have one and love it. It is just like a notebook but much smaller and it boots up in under 30 seconds. I use the linux OS but I am thinking of running win XP on it instead. I also have a notebook but I find myself using the eeepc much more often for basics...
