@RAL sorry don't think i did not see all this.  i ditched the retrofit for the normal DBH and went that way and all worked first run.  had to restrain my OCD need to figure out the problem and just drive around it this time.  thanks.

howdy.  what advanced functionality do you lose going to the elk M1? looks like only 2 wire phone hookup like POTS.     how does alarm relay get hooked up to ethernet?  through the M1XEP?
