I may have asked this once before, but couldn't find the post. Will Premise interface with 1-Wire networks? Can I monitor the data coming out of them and make Premise display it?
Thanks
Brian

Does anyone know the wiring diagram to connect a 1-wire device to a serial connection? I cant believe that its all that difficult, im just not sure if any electronics are contained within the commercially available devices, or they are just wired directly, and the software does the conversion.

Thanks
Brian

1-wire is not a RS-232 level interface. You need some form of electronics to hold the 1-wire bus that the proper levels and inject properly formed pulses to communicate digitally. Some electronic interfaces are dumb such as the Dallas Semiconductor DS9097U and some are smarter such as the EDS HA7Net (ethernet) or Temp08 (RS-232). Software on the host will typically convert device-level inputs (A/D) to engineering units such as % humidity depending upon the circuit behind the 1-wire device(s).

So can one of these interfaces be built, or do you have to buy one? I would like to build one if possible, rather than buy one!

I think Mitch/Midon still sells the bare bone Temp08 boards. HB's also sells board kits. Not sure. A 9097 is very reasonable in price. How are looking to connect to the 1-wire network?

I would like to use a serial connection on an old PC I have to run the Premise server, and connect to the 1-wire network. Im new to 1-wire, and got some free samples from Maxxim and would liek to play with it. This is why I wasnted to build my own interface. This way if I didnt like it, I wasnt out any cash for the most part.
