Unless your Rain8 is different than mine, that 24V brick is a 24VAC...not DC
You are correct...I just checked. So much for that (not a big deal, really).
Ok, here is my list of warts (all 12VDC):
OnQ Controller: 1000 mA
Ocelot/Secu16: 200 mA
Datanab: 800 mA
Netgear switch : 1000 mA
Netgear router : 1200 mA
DSL Modem : 500 mA
I also have a USB hub I'm using in that area, which is 4-5.5V, 3800 mA....but I'm pretty sure its usage is only temporary there, so no need to futz with it.
So I don't really have an abundance of devices (though there's sure to be more)....3 that are really HA dedicated, and 3 that are PC network related. It seems kind of strange to cut the transformers off and hook the network gear up to a dedicated power supply...they just seem more like an appliance than other stuff. And I'm not sure, but I may have to give the DSL modem back once cable comes to our area and I leave Windstream forever.
So what's the verdict? Include at least the switch and router in the mix too? Does it matter if these aren't co-located? The ocelot and datanab will be together, and the OnQ and network gear will be together, but across the room from each other (< 20 ft distance in wire terms).
