What you really need to do is only disable the zones you are not currently using but keep all the rest supervised. I did this so incase I damaged wires during remodel ect Id know it was a bad wire and not the sensor itself.

As far as using them as tamper (4-wire) My thoughts is if they can get around the sensor to remove it from the wall more power to them...

So now you are going from thie highest level of supervision/security to the lower level.

To be clear, I was talking about removing the EOL's that he put on the panel to get around the zone faults on the kpd because he did not have RP at the time. I am not talking about removing EOL's from any in use zones. There is no reason to have a zone active and supervised with a resistor directly on the panel.

Right, and this assumes an EOL at the far end of the wire. An EOL directly on the panel itself serves no useful purpose. In fact, if something happens to the EOL you will trigger the alarm which you don't want either. Disabling the unused zone is the safest and easiest thing to do imho.

When you said to save money not to use the EOL's I got the impression you met not to use EOL's. My mistake sorry.

I am from the old school of normally closed zones. A large majority of the residential burglar controls installed have the EOL resistors at the control panel because many controls do not have the ability to program out the EOL resistors which is a waste of time and good resistors.

All my hardwire zones on my M1 are programmed as normally closed zones without using EOL resistors.

The EOL resistor does give you the ability to detect opens or shorts, but the EOL resistor must be placed at the most distant switch from the control to detect a short anywhere on the loop.

Make sure you document where the EOL resistor is at for future service if you have more than one switch on a zone. Leave the documentation in the control box.
