24762 (Insteon Switchlinc) has sprouted new wires

I just pulled out a recently purchased spare 2476S (Now identified as a Switchlinc On/Off instead of a Relay) and found that the "new" version now has an additional TWO wires coming out the back. A yellow "sense" wire (with no explanation other than to cap it off) and a new THICK red "load" wire that you actually connect to line.

It was hard enough stuffing these things in a box as it was.

Any idea what is going on with these?

The new relay switch will give the user the ability to control a seperate power source or the same as the switch power through the two red wires. You can have it switch a 120V load or maybe a 12V transformer. The only thing you need top remenber is that if you decide to control low voltage you wire still need to be rated at 600V to be in the same box as you 120V circuits. The yellow wire is a sense wire that will tell the relay switch to turn on and send it's group command when voltage is applied to it. You could install it in a three way and only have to change one switch. Rather than make it a different SKU they decided to make it an all in one product and let the user decide how they wanted to install it.

If you install it in a 3-way configuration what happens when the dumb switch is turned on, the load is then turned off with the main switch, and then the dumb switch is used to try and turn on the load again. Do you have to turn off the dumb switch and then back on again?

Edit: I tried looking up the part number and checking the manual and of course the manual shows the old part with the old wiring. Go smarthome...

Yes it does have a Blue wire in the wiki manual.
Interesting as I believe the Quick Guide where I found the link. Shows the pair of Red wires.

The sense wire works on a sense pulse so you can turn off the controlled switch even though the other switch is on. you would have to turn off the first switch and back on again in the event you were going to leave an existing three way switch in the mix.

That link seems to show the old version...? I don't see the extra wires or any mention of them in that Wiki page. I do see the extra wires in the pictures on the product page on smarthome.com. The product name on the smarthome page and in the Wiki also don't seem to match the product name on the label in the picture of the back of the SmartLinc on the smarthome page. Maybe someone only got half-way through a revision?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?...

Scroll down the wiki page a little. There is another pic with the wires in them. They are capped off...

If you search the words "yellow" or "sense" on the Wiki Page nothing meaningful comes up.
