Amplified PC speaker set volume issues

What did you do with the ground connections?

On the PC side I took an existing 3.5mm stereo cable that I had which essentially had 4 wires - a red and white insulated wire each surrounded by a bare coper shield. I tied the red and white together and connected that to the center conductor of the RG6, I tied the bare copper 'shields' to the RG6 shield and plugged the 3.5mm plug into one of the outputs on the PC's sound card. On the other end of the RG6, I attached a regular screw-on 'f' connector and screwed into that an adapter from rat-shack that has a female f connector on one end and a 3.5mm mono male on the other. That plugs into the powered speakers on the remote end. As I mentioned, it works quite well. One of them is on our back patio and we listen to music on it all the time. I don't notice that the sound is 'blended-stereo' and have never had any hum even though about 20 feet of the RG6 runs underground in conduit directly beside 120V and 220V wire in separate conduit. It also gets quite loud so no problem with volume.
