Anyone *like* their low-voltage/outdoor lighting?

My previous house had the box store malibu lights - drove me nuts - seemed like we were replacing light bulbs every week and there were only 6 or 7 lights - I eventually converted to LED and never replaced another.  In this house I had a commercial lighting system installed with about 16 lights 3 years ago and haven't replaced a bulb yet, and none of those are LED yet.  They did use Kichler I believe (~$150/light) and a good quality transformer.  For control, inside the transformer box where the light timer is supposed to plug in, I have a UPB lamp module with dimming disabled - so I have control from my rear patio switch.  Works great - looks great.

My landscape lighting is comprised of inexpensive fixtures from wherever I find good deals.  All are outfitted with LED replacement lamps, all run from 12g cable.  Attachment is soldered with wire nuts and silicone.  Besides some yet-unidentified pest that steals a bulb from one of my fixtures, this setup seems to work beautifully.

I don't worry about long runs or voltage drops.  I have four circuits, each powered by a 50W switching power supply, controlled via insteon module.

Count me as one who "likes" my setup.

Lowes now carries a decent quality fixture with a LED bulb. The color is good (better than led replacements that I have seen) and they have a 5 year warranty on the light and fixture. They are far nicer than cheap Malibus. $35 or so which compares very favorably to name branded LED fixtures. I am very happy with them. They came out about 4-5 months ago as far as I can tell.

I still have some Malibus with the standard bulb and the color is so close that I can mix the two types.

I made my own lighting... We use 1 watt LEDs, and Vodka bottles. If you need some bottles let me know Viveck.

The ceiling is now covered with slatboard, and I used floor flanges to hold the bottles to the ceiling. Now it is easy to change the bulbs too... All you do is unscrew the bottle just like a light bulb.
