FYI - for what it's worth intel offers no drivers other than MS on their site for this board, so i think i'm out of luck at least with this on-board raid.

As for other progress, i got the drivers for my 8600GTS installed and boy is it P-R-E-T-T-Y with the high level overlay menu and i haven't even hooked it to the panasonic yet (next step). I've got audio working over optical to the onkyo.

The big holdup:

I've got the GC100 working, but only for IR, as i can't get RS232 to work at all neither on the GC100 or on the onboard port for the life of me as detailed here:

If anyone has some insite here, i'm all ears... The Mrs was pretty impressed with the demos and i'm convinced i will go this route if i can get it to talk to the onkyo over serial...

Updates please!

How is it going with LinuxMCE? I've been studying it for 3 months now and want to try it. I've never built my own computer. I'm going to have a lot to learn and look forward to it. But I'm really interested in hearing from someone that LinuxMCE works before I go down a frustrating path with no end. I simply have not found many posts anywhere from people that have successfully implemented LMCE.

The video is awesome - if it works. Tell me it works!
