/archive/j/news/2009/7/borgcqc.jpgWhile this isn't exactly a new product announcement, I wanted to mention the Borg Protégé touch screens, as not many people are familiar with this product, and initial feedback looks promising.
Borg Displays currently sells 2 products.  The Protégé8 and the Protégé15.  They can be shipped with Windows XPe (Embedded) or Linux.  The 8" unit only uses 2.745W thanks to its energy efficient Geode LX800 CPU and the LED backlit LCD.  The 15" ships with a regular LCD and the VIA 1Ghz CPU (fanless).
The 8" retails for $1,999 while the 15" retails for $2,490 (which is a lot more than some of the Atom based screens out there).  Borg Displays just announced that CQC and Custom Home Control are compatible with this unit, while they are working on testing compatibility with other touch screen applications out there.  See the press release below for the official announcement.

Press Release:

Borg confirms compatibility with two more control applications;
Charmed Quark and Custom Home Control
Many more applications in process or already confirmed

July 1, 2009 Denver, CO. Borg Displays, Inc, the premier innovator of affordable in-wall embedded touch controllers since 2001, announced today interoperability acceptance with the two more control entities and applications; Charmed Quark and Custom Home Control.  With the addition of these two new applications respective dealers can easily deploy an end to tend interface for optimal access to whole home control on both the Protégé8™ and Protégé15™ touchcontrollers.  Additionally, the capacitive "hard" buttons are configurable with URL, Windows HotKey, and hardware shortcuts.

"Adding solution to disparate pieces saves professionals' time and money", states Borg president, Craig Slawson.  Borg partners with best-of-breed application developers to insure support and service calls are kept to a minimum when working with partner applications.
