CES 2011 Exclusive Update - Yale

CocoonTech stopped by the Yale booth to look at their ZWave enabled door locks.

The main product that I wanted to see was their capacitive touch screen lock as first reported by Dan (Electron) during his Cedia trip back in November (this lock is also demoed in his Cedia video).

Basically you touch any part of the screen to 'wake it up', then the numbers appear.  You just type in your code and it unlocks the deadbolt, plus sends a ZWave signal to your controller (which can then be used to disarm your system, turn on lights, etc...).

When you want to exit, you just touch the screen and the door locks.

This lock can also be ZigBee compatible as well (just swap out the internal radio card).

This lock is powered via four each AA batteries and lifetime is expected to be one year.

There is also a privacy mode on the bottom of the interior of the lock which disables the exterior keypad.  Up to 250 users can be programmed in the lock.

Their ZigBee app has an iPhone app.  They are working on the ZWave interfaces for this product.

This lock also has a manual keyed over ride (so it is more WAF acceptable).

Pricing will be around $350 and should be available during the late spring of this year.  The colors will include brass, nickel, and bronze.
