Hi

I'm still new to Home Automation but somehow have managed to get all the X10, X10 Pro, Smarthome and Leviton devices to work together very well.

The only thing that's missing is a computer controller and I've picked the Smarthome Powerlinc 1132CU due to it's memory feature and bargain price on eBay. Unfortunantly, since I purchased it used off eBay, it did not come with a software so I'm looking for a relatively good one for around or below $50 (I know you can't find a really good one for this price but I just don't have the budget right now). Or should I just go with the Smarthome Manager I guess this device is designed to work with?

Also, I have a X10 motion sensor at the front door of the house. What I'm trying to do is anytime when a motion is detect, it will turn on a X10 VCR Commander in the house. If it is between sunset and sunrise (or during a specific time), then it will also turn on the front door light. Would I be able to write a macro like that and save it into the 1132CU's memory?

Appreciate any help in advance

The limitations of using the SH software is that it will only control SH devices.

Under $50? Not a lot of options there. The only one I can think of is HAL basic but you can only control 16 devices. If you can get to the $150-200 range, there are a lot more options.

thanks I did not realize that the Smarthome Manager only works with Smarthome devices. I assume the same goes with ActiveHome which will work only with the vanilla / original X10 devices

oh well I originally thought I could get away with maximum 70 bucks for the Smarthome Manager but I guess the next best thing to settle with is Powerhome2 for $99?

Yes, Powerhome would be the closest in your price range. A lot of people here like it and the owner is a great guy to work with and frequents this site.
