I have a Brultech ECM-1240 installed. I cannot get it to send info to my computer. (Wireless). Does the unit have an internal sending unit or do I have to attach an Xbee device to the unit?
Step by step instructions to at least start recieving, via my wireless computer, would be welcome. My computer is a wireless connection.
Thanks, CharlesPR

I cannot give you step-by-step instructions, because I didn't get the 1240 with the internal xbee radio -- I went with simple RS232. Only the + versions at 1240 Packages have the wireless radio inside the monitoring unit. Then, you you also need the xbee-to-usb dongle for the computer.

I think the newer ones have something on the front (a little wireless "image" near the word monitor) that indicates if it has wireless built in. For older ones, like mine, look on the back of the device. Mine has a bunch of writing on the housing, part of which says "Contains FCC ID: OUR-XBEE2" and "Contains Model Xbee ZNet...". Also, the BrulTech serial number sticker on the back says "Wireless = 1".

With that said, even if you have an ECM-1240 with wireless, you still need the separate EtherBee wireless device. I don't think the wireless capability of the ECM-1240 is typical LAN wireless, i.e., not 802.11a/b/g/n. The ECM-1240 communicates wirelessly with the EtherBee wireless device using a different protocol. The EtherBee contains a jack for an RJ-45 connector that is used to connect it to a network hub/switch/etc.

Thank You all. I have contact with my computer and the unit. It is accepting to Wattage Use and showing on AI.
Thanks again...I may have more questions next week... Charles

ps...I fixed the problem by installing the xbee unit to the computer...A hint for new users that are lost also......before you hook up your Xbee....check the ports in the AI...then add the Xbee(reciever). The new port will be the one to pick for the device.
