Buying used Crestron gear

I've got a line on used Crestron gear.  Is it worth looking at?  I'm assuming that I won't easily be able to get my hands on programming software and other things I need to make it work.

Don't know what it's like today, but in the past Crestron was actively hostile toward any sort of DIY or homeowner setup or programming of their gear.
 
Unless you already have the necessary tools and know-how I'd say pass on it.
