Wow, I think you are right, you are missing the main processor. Here is a pic of mine (well my old board whose serial port blew out during a lightning storm).

Yup, you are right. That sadly confirms my worst fear, the MCU is missing.

Well on the upside, Guess I don't have to worry about unlocking it now !. but I'll need to locate an MCU now.

Yaaaa know, that board that I took the picture of has a perfect MCU, but a blown serial port. Maybe PM me and we can work something out!

I program my NX8E through the alarm keypad, never used the software. Not too hard to do, just takes a little patience - the unit is quite sophisticated but you only need to touch 1% of the programming locations...

The DL900 download link is broken, is anyone aware of another?

From all I have managed to find, it appears that the downloader software DL900 is free, yet I have had no luck in finding a copy. Could anyone please direct me to where I could get a copy PLEASE !!!!. I need it to unlock my NX8e panel.
