Premise Caddx help?

Motorola Premise
Aaaaaand we're back!

Tim, before I move forward, can you check two things for me? First, what is your panel firmware? Mine was showing "2.00", but for some reason it isn't right now. I wonder if a different panel firmware sends different length zone status messages.

Second, when you trip a zone, does the "triggered" status change here?

I'll try a clean install on a different computer tonight just to rule that out, then I'll start trying to figure out how to get Premise to respond to the 10 byte messages coming from the panel.

I'll check this weekend. Pretty sure my firmware is 5.38. But I wonder if it's grabbing the firmware of 584 board instead of the NX8? But I'll double check tomorrow afternoon or evening.

I'm 99.999% sure that the "triggered" check-box was being activated. But I will double check too.

I will also make sure I get around to playing back your bytes into my Premise to see if it triggers or not.

Confimed. My firmware is 5.38.

And it is indeed the trigger checkbox that gets "checked" when a zone is tripped.

But.... Two more things to look at.... And more possibly more confusion...

Take a look at "Condition Level 2" heading, and see if "Faulted" changes when your zone is tripped. I'm entirely wired as normally closed/NC, so my panel sees an open circuit as either a cut wire or alarm. You can't tell on a NC circuit, so my panel will show alarm/triggered & faulted. But on a normally open/NO with a proper end of line resistor, the panel can differentiate between an tripped zone and a cut wire.

So depending on your wiring, you may be able to use the "faulted" condition instead of the "triggered" condition for indicating the zone status.

#2, Take a look at the message 5 stuff... Type level 1, 2 & 3, and condition level 1 & 2. Is it accurate? If so, more mystery! That's the info that comes from message with an incorrect number of bytes! If it's accurate in Premise, then it's working at least partially and the extra bytes Premise can deal with. Message 4 is what drives the trigger, bypass, memory. And it is correct in terms of bytes and all, but not Premise. Very strange.

Another thing to try...

I noticed there are 4 options for adding caddx panels. 8e, 8, 6 and 4. Have you tried adding you panel as an 8 instead of an 8e? If the serial protocol is slightly different between the 8e and an 8 with a 584 board, maybe Premise will play nicer if it thinks the panel is an 8.

Well shoot. My laptop died. It was 10 years old, so I'm not shocked. I should be able to connect everything to my media PC, but haven't gotten a chance to do that yet.

Before it died, I monitored the panel, partition, and zone status pages while tripping a zone and I didn't notice anything updating anywhere. The only thing that I noticed changing was the zone's bypass status, which updated in real-time as I bypassed and unbypassed the zone. I do recall trying to add the panel as an NX-8 and an NX-8e a while ago, but don't remember there being a difference. I didn't get a chance to try that again while more methodically troubleshooting it. I didn't get a chance to analyze the message 5 stuff yet.

I won't have a chance to install Premise on my media PC until next week, so you get another break. Sorry for drawing this out!
