CADDX wireless question

Question- do the Caddx wireless smoke and CO detectors work standalone? I'm headed for a panel (eventually), but the smoke in my son's room just died- figure I may as well get the right detector, if it will function on its own. THen I can put off the panel a little longer.

I'm not recommending this seller as I have had no experience with them, however it does detail the detector. I have never used a wireless smoke or CO detector and had been under the impression that they were NOT standalone devices, but apparently some are.

That is the model I am looking at- does the "built in sounder" imply that it will function without the panel? That was my guess, looking for confirmation.
