I am looking to build a barebones NAS that will run CQC and be able to stream my files to XBMC. low power and 4+ sata ports are my only requirements... It's been a long time since i bought hardware so i dont really know what i'm looking for. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Get a mini-ITX board from newegg.com. You can use a SATA multiplier to get multiple ports (at the expense of performance, but it might not matter for what you are doing). The boards have an Atom processor, and you can pick one up for under $60. I assume that you mean under $200 not including 4 drives to take up all of your SATA ports.

There's also this:

Or, you could go all out and build one of these 67 TB units:

Correct, $200 does not include drives. do you have a board you'd recommend? As long as i can stream HD over gigabit i dont care about anything else.

I came to $201 for a Ion board, psu and some ram... No case though...

I don't have one in particular I would recommend. I would look closely at all of the reviews on newegg for each one and buy based off of those. Note that some of them come with a power supply also.
