Can you connect a keypad to the Expansion Board 17A00?

I have an outbuilding with a can and conduit run to my main house and an Omnipro panel. I was planning on putting an Expansion board (17A00-X) in the outbuilding since I'll have several sensors out there. I was wondering if the 17A00 can accept a keypad and strike or if it's just for sensors and outputs. I have two entries to the outbuilding (there's a future finished room above a garage and the stairs are external) and ideally I'd put a keypad and electronic strike at each door (so 2x keypads, 2x strikes, and maybe 2x RFID readers).

Based on what I've read it seems the expansion board just takes zones and outputs, but the manual is not entirely clear on whether I can add keypads, strikes, etc.

Thanks!

What do you want to do with the expansion board - be notified when the keypad activates the strike or is your goal to operate the strike from OP or something completely different?  I don't see why you can do all of those things, but, depends on your actual goals......

Here's some detail that may help you with the expansion board capabilities (figured it was easier to copy that to write some long paragraphs about it all);

Excerpt taken from Leviton Product Brochure;

The 17A00 Expansion Enclosure adds 16 inputs for additional security, fire, temperature, humidity, and automation inputs and 16 voltage outputs for control. The 17A00 can be mounted up to 1000 feet away from the OmniPro II controller and is commonly used for additional security / fire zones, and control of pumps, motors, commercial lighting, remote control breakers, and sprinkler system.

The expansion board won't help you much with keyboard, doorstrikes or RFID readers, but it will add extra zones.  Inside consoles can be added to the same bus that the expansion board connects to. To connect the external keypad that Leviton sells requires a connection to a free serial port. Same for the card reader with the doorstrike control, requires a serial port.  So no, the expansion board won't help you there, but you could connect a doorstrike to an output on the expansion board if you JUST want a doorstrike.  So its a bit apples and oranges.

Basically, my hope was that I could run one or two security cables to the outbuilding and connect to the expansion board, and then homerun everything (security sensors, consoles, door strikes, RFID readers, smokes, etc) to the expansion board. I did this with my Ethernet, basically running a couple CAT5 cables to a switch in the outbuilding, and then everything is homerun to the outbuilding switch.

So it seems I'm good on security sensors, smokes, and indoor consoles, but no serial to the expansion board. I used to have an Elk in my old house that had some kind of serial expander that would let you connect remote serial devices but I guess the HAI setup doesn't allow that.

This should ultimately be OK, and I could just use my phone and Haiku/Space to activate a door strike while outside the door, or go with a ZWave-type solution. My desire for RFID was so we could give people like cleaners and babysitters a keycard that was limited to certain hours, etc. Right now we have a Schlage ZWave lock (not yet integrated with the Omnipro) and give each person a unique code, but it will open the door at any time so it's not perfect, but better than a key at least.

The serial ports on the Omni can be rs-485 so they are good for long distances and only require three wires.
