The keypad plugin cable has 6 wires. What exactly is the use for the blue and brown wire?

The instruction says the brown wire can be used for the 'Optional Programmable output from keypad'.....I am an extreme novice, exactly what does this mean?

The instruction says the blue wire is for the 'Optional programmable input "key pad zone"....what does this mean?...examples of what each of these two options do will help

I am using  the M1DBH hub......I will be using the keypads to operate the ElkM1 board.

Thanks!

The output can be used to turn on an LED or a relay that can be wired to do other things. Pay attention to not exceed the current limitations.

The blue wire is a zone input just like an input on the M1 or M1XIN except that you wire it to the blue wire and the ground wire at the keypad hence the term keypad zone.

Examples are in the installation manuals for the device or if not they are in the M1 manual.

Ok thanks. So if I don't want to use either of those two, could I just leave those wires unused inside the keypad?
