Along the top of the support web site is a navigation bar. There is a link in there labeled "FAQ". If you search the archive, you will find an entry labeled, "Where Are the Settings?".

The short answer is that currents in eK Plus v1.0.1 the settings are at the bottom of the iPhone settings panel. You access the iPhone settings from the home page of your phone through the Grey icon containing three gears.

Note that in version v1.1 the settings will be moving into the eK Plus application and be just another icon in the "More" list.

Hi Jayson,

Purchased the application. Couldn't help myself and wait thought I would at least run the application and via the VPN at least connect to the remote M1. Then check it out when I am up there tommorow.

Hmm not off to a flyer. Downloaded the app via the iPhone and ran it up. I am greeted with configuration problem ELK IP address, Unsecured port and valid user code....fair enough I need to set these up to connect....but where within the application does one do that? Went to the link to support and all I get is the flyer product page, go to the website and there are no instructions as to where the setup configuror is.

Double checked that iTunes see that I have actually purcheased the app and sure enough I have, now sync the app with my iTunes.

Anyway I get "no favourite difined" and can find no way to set the app up....what am I missing?

Not sue what more I can tell you. It won't let me get into configure.....or to the point I can find no instructions as to where you do it. I have tried evrything logical. The application greets you with the ELK IP address, Unsecured port and valid user code message prompt and that is it!

Where are the setting up and configuring instructions? Also when I try and exit the app by hitting the bottom button it sometime lets me exit back to the main screen sometimes I have to switch the phone off.

I can't give you any more feedback than this as this is as far as I can go.

Please do provide me with the details of any issues you encounter. The more detail and context you can provide the better. The more people that provide feedback the better; even if you are reporting no issues.

For example, on the two iPhones I have direct testing access to, there are no latency issues. Zone and output indicators are real-time with no perceptible latency as compared to Elk RM. None of the other three testers have reported this issue, but I am following up with them on specific test cases to try.

There can be man causes for latency, please try and isolate as man variables as possible when documenting the applications behavior. Using your home network wifi to connect to the XEP IP address directly over the un-secure port is the best starting place. VPNs, the secure port and the internet all add varying amounts of latency.

Please note that I will be leaving for the holidays on Wed morning, so my responsiveness on the board will be intermittent until Saturday night.

The iPhone does not allow any application to affect the behavior of the bottom button. The OS on the phone manages presses of this button.

Have you been experiencing any odd behavior from the phone prior to installing eK Plus?

Some feedback so far in the VPN mode. M1 status is in armed away mode.

Zones

Any zones that are not burgular alarm and are noemally a red X on ELKRM are yellow on your app which indicates they are bypassed

Temperature zones (#33) and analog zones (#34) are displayed in zones also FOBs. Not sure these need to be displayed as I believe they are meaningless.

Lighting (I am using C-Bus (Square D)

Lighting indicators don't show next to the light name.

When you switch the light on which is done by sliding to the next screen the light can be switched on but when you slide back to the lighting list then back again to the control page the light switches off.

Outputs

The outputs don't switch. You make the change on the output details screen and the selected output doesn't change.

Keypad

It appears that the interface only recognises the first valid user code. All other valid codes are ignored

The 3 dots indicating which page your are on don't update when you change the page

General Comments

The latency via the VPN is very sticky and slow

I will be up there tommorow and will give things spin when I am connected to the network

Just as Fleet encountered, I think a lot of issues were around navigating the app before I had it connected to my panel when just trying to get around And find the setting... Now that I've used it for a day and know the basics about waiting until wifi is connected a lot of that isn't happening.

Also, I don't think it's bad where the settings are, but that first connectivity message should tell you where to go.

Technically applications are licensed using the same system as music files.
Apple allows music file to be installed on up to 5 devices, but I am not allowed to set this value for my applications. Apple has defined the value.
I have tried to do a quick search but I was unable to locate additional details.

I will have to do more searching to find out a definitive answer.

Thanks for the feedback. Some comments that may help:

The zone status indicator can be one of 4 colors: clear=unknown state, green=unviolated,normal, red= violated/alarm, blue=bypassed

The indicators for lights do toggle between clear (off) and blue (on). However it is setting this initial status based upon the data it receives from the Elk. In some situations the Elk can get out of sync with the actual light status. If you go into the light details screen and toggle the light you will see the indicator toggle with it. I am working with Elk to improve this experience.

Yes. Temperature zones should not be in the list. I will add that to the todo list. Support for temperature zones is coming in v1.1.

For output control, note that there are three types of control on the details screen. An on/off switch, a toggle switch, and a momentary switch. The On off switch will do what you expect. The toggle will change the output to which ever state it is not currently set to. momentary will only turn on the output while you hold the button down. when you release it, it will also release the output.

There is an option in the settings that will either allow or restrict the user codes that can be used on the keypad. If it is set to restrict codes, then only the valid user code entered in the setup will work on the keypad, if set to no restrict codes then any valid user code on the panel will wokr through the keypad.

please check the three dots again. This feature has been working for a very long time

I am unable to recreate most of the behavior you are describing either my iPhone nor my wifes on her phone. I have asked one of the other beta testers to attempt to recreate your problems as well.

I think at this point I should speak to both of you on the phone to make sure that we are all working from a common baseline. The iPhone is a complex device, and there could be causes for some or all of your symptoms that are external to eK Plus. Can both of you please send me your contact details (including your time zone and good time to call) to the eK App support email? The address is japps[at]me[dot]com.

Once we have a common baseline established we can update this thread for the benefit of others.

Quick answer on the multiple installs... I do have an iPhone and an iPod touch - both sync with the same computer, therefor they can both have the app (I don't have to pay for it multiple times. As I understand it, as long as both devices are registered to the same iTunes store account, you only ever have to pay for something once. I did not pay twice to get it on my iPod touch - in fact, once I synced the iPhone to the pc, it backed up the application on the PC, so I got it on the iPod Touch the next time I sync'd by dragging it onto the device.

Also, I know the limit of 5 has to do with computers - but they're music allows you to sync with unlimited iPods - the application may very well work the same way... As long as they're all tied to the same iTunes account, you shouldn't have to pay multiple times.

Jayson - I'll play with both devices through the four-day weekend then we can talk after... that'll give me more time to play with it.

I will give you some more feedback now I am "In Residence" I am connected wireless to to the local wireless router or AP router both exhibit the same characteristic I am seeing. Firstly it connect OK to EK+

I can confirm the following.

There are only two colours being displayed on zones green and yellow, If I go to ELKRM and compare the status the following is what I am seeing.

RM Violated red X - EK+ Yellow
RM Unviolated green tick - EK+ green
RM Bypassed yellow circle - EK+ green
Can't comment on clear stste have not seen it nor does one exist here.

The page dots definitely do not move in the keypad section.

The Ouputs take the best part of 40 seconds to load the 18 Outputs I have enabled on the M1. The output status doen't track on the EK+ I can change an output on the ELKRM and it will not change the status unless I select another mode ie keypad, zones when I return to the output page it will update the status correctly. Also if I change an output on the EK+ it will change the output on the M1 but the EK+ status doesn't change, the ELKRM does. If I say select an output that is curently off on the EK+ and then select it to come on it will switch the output on however if I then go back to the main output menu then select the output again it will switch the output off on the page selection. Conversly if EK+ says an output is on and you flip the page back to the output menu page it will switch that output off.

Lighting takes a good 40 seconds to load 68 lights. Lighting too does weird things on page slides, I can switch a light on go back to the lighting main menu page and then return to the light I just switched on and on page selection the light remains on however the EK+ switches to off and status goes to off with the light on. I have been able to dim the lights only once or twice using the slider.

Tasks seem to work OK and it takes about 5-6 seconds to load 14 tasks.

Thought I would feed the local network finding back as the first post I was using the VPN. I believe both are doing the same thing at the interface level.

Not sure if this was mentioned but it appears the latest iPhone/iPod firmware breaks the lighting sliders.
