Elk-73 location?

I want to use an Elk 73 to mount outside on my house wall. It would have some weather protection, but some rain would be able to get to it.
 
I was thinking that since the speaker cone is mylar, all I would need to do is seal the pop off cover and mount it to the wall using 1/2' spacers so it had some air space between it and the wall.
 
Would this work ok or is it a strictly an interior speaker?

It may work outside, but I would not expect any longevity.
