I have an M1KP keypad, that I have been using for some time. Today, I added 2 M1KP2's. I set the keypads to addresses 1, 2, 3. The keypad that was originally 1, is still number 1. For some reason, I cannot get it to work now. The keypad states that it has lost comm. I brought the keypad back to its original spot and it works fine. I tested the wiring for the new keypad, and it is fine. Any ideas why the keypad does not work now? Also, each keypad plugs into an M1DBH. Even when I bypass the wiring to the keypad and go directly to the DBH, it still doesnt work. Any ideas?

Yes, of course: every keypad comes from the factory as keypad#1.
And at first you had to set the keypad-number you wish:
(see page 2 of the instruction of your keypad)
First connect it to the RS485 bus.
Because now it has juice, the display is lighted.
Press the "*" key for 10 seconds or so, until the display shows
"Exit when done. F1 Set Addr"
Now press <F1> and enter the sesired KP-Addr. (Between 1 and 16)
This you cannot with the ELK-RP-Programm. only direct at the keypad.
The KP-Addr-Setup is the first step.
After <Exit> the ELK-System is knowing the different KPs.
And now it becomes possible to enroll the new items in a second step.

I came across this old thread, searching for Elk install tips.
What I should have questioned was:
Terminal RJ45 resistor jumper in first open jack?
I think I'm getting the hang of this Elk stuff.
