Elk Lighting Interface

I use a lighting contol product in the UK called Rako. It has a RS232 interface option to control the lights.

Does the Elk M1 Gold support the abililty to interface to other lighting control products like Rako by sending ASCII commands directly, kind of like a passthrough so I can add my own ASCII commands in the RM software and then trigger the commands as I need.

TIA.

Short answer is yes - if you know what you want to send, then it provides the means to do so through an M1XSP. My only concern would be running out of rules space if you tried to do too many... If you peruse the manual you can find examples - you literally specify what string you want to send, and which serial port to send to - then set either tasks or events to send the string. Obviously this wouldn't really be two-way, but I think it'd accomplish what you're after.

Sounds good, thanks. It would only be for one or two lights for security, the rest are controlled in full via a PC.
