Elk M1 Alarm Not sounding during rule activation

I have a rule in the M1 that whenever the alarm trips it calls my cell phone. It is not monitored yet with a CS. I noticed the other day when I was testing it that the internal speaker alarm would initally go off when I tripped the alarm but once the rule fired and the line was seized to call my phone the internal house alarm was silenced until I acknowledeged the alarm once the M1 called me. Then the interior alarm resumed. Is normal or possibly I have a setting somewhere in RP wrong?

That's normal. It can't talk over the speakers and over the phone line at the same time. To solve this, I made specialized email messages that are sent to my phone in the event of an alarm. That way, you still get the alarms over the speakers and an immediate message on your phone stating exactly what the problem is.

There is one voice generator. When sending a voice message down the telephone line, the voice siren has to shut down. When the voice message completes, the voice siren turns back on.

ok thanks I still haven't set up the M1XEP so once I do that sounds like a better approach.
