elk m1 lighting question

Interested in peoples thoughts on the best way to simply control lighting (on/off). Essentially what I want to happen is have the kitchen lights turn on when I disarm the alarm at night.

I was thinking about hooking the light up to a 240v relay and driving it off the output relay extender board and connecting the kitchen light switch to the N//O input. That way I figure I can turn the light on/off form the kitchen or from some event from the M1 like disarming or the garage door opening.

Thanks for any input, thoughts or concerns

Cheers

Assuming from the post you have an M1. A relay can work but you can't dim plus you have to deal with proper ways to mount, etc. Why not just use a lighting technology like UPB? Sounds like you are down under and use 240V. I'm pretty sure there are 240V UPB products now.

Thanks, we have the clipsal c-bus and X-10 but its runs into 3 figures whereas a relay is $12. With X10 do you know if you can detect whether the light is on or off ?

Thanks
