I would like to select between three or four sets of speakers in the house for music. I'd like my Elk M1G to be able to control this. I've seen some threads about doing this with plain relays, but I believe impedance would be a real issue. The most reasonably priced box I've seen for this is the Home Automation Control System products, either the AB8SS or the ESS modular system. Seems I could get away for sub-$200, and have X10 control.
Has anyone else done this? I've seen articles about controlling it via homeseer, but I have the Elk M1G only and don't really want to add a computer at this point. I haven't seen any articles about programming the Elk to talk to the AB8SS/ESS over X10. Can the Elk be programmed to send custom X10 commands that the HACS device will understand (the HACS devices don't just look for Lights On/Off).
I emailed the company about their devices, but haven't received a response yet.
Thoughts?
