Elk M1G config question

Hi -- just joined the forum and am hoping this is an easy question for someone.

I have an M1 Gold system that I'm in the process of installing. I'm using the RP software. I have one expander board in the system, but when I originally installed the board, I mistakenly set its address to "3", which I know now maps that board to zones 33-48. I have subsequently switched it back to address "2", which is working fine, but the system is still programmed with zones 33-48.

When I do a "show conflicts" in RP, these 16 zones show up as being in the system but not in the database. I have tried everything I can think of to synchronize them and delete them, but each time I do another "show conflicts", the phantom 16 zones show up in the system. All I'm trying to do is to get these deleted / unprogrammed from the system. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

When you made the change did you un-enroll the expander, then change then re-enroll? If not, re-enroll the expander and see if that helps.

I did not -- will try that tonight and see if that helps.

I actually just made the address change "hot" in the system, which was probably a dumb thing to do. I'll do the reconfig more formally and see if that helps.

Okay, so here's what I've tried... I set the expander back to address 3 (just switching while everything was powered on), and then re-enrolled everything.

Then I unplugged the expander, re-enrolled everything, switched it to address 2, plugged it back in, and then re-enrolled everything again. No fix. The system is still programmed for zones 33-48.

When you say "un-enroll", is there a specific way to do that, or do you just remove the hardware and run an enroll cycle?

Any other ideas on how to clear that bank of zones out of the system?

Thanks,
Bryan

You should be able to just disable the zones in RP. Then after you re-enroll modules with the address set for 2 you will probably have to reconfigure the zones (you can try copying them first before you disable them etc).

Yea, plus don't make hot changes. If you are going to change switches, wiring etc, take the time and do it right. Power off the M1 with the built in switch (a very nice feature btw, I added the external switch to my Omni panel) then make your changes, then power the M1 back on.

Thanks, guys, for the help. A more diligent power-down / re-config methodology took care of it. Now I know... : )

I had a similar problem, I set my expansion board to id "1" thinking it was the first input expansion board in the system..lol. After about 3 hours of tryiing to figure out why my zones kept coming up as violated I decided to read the manual again and realized I had to set it to "2". I shut down the system, set the ID to 2, powered up and ran RP. I performed a bus enrolment and voila, all is good in the world now
