Elk M1G + EZrain irrigation controller

Hi guys,

All my Elk relays are used up already so I'm trying to use a new EZRain controller to trigger the 3 water valves from the ELK Panel. I can't seem to figure it out.

Setup

Elk m1g insteon kit (the module is able to control insteon switches)
I also have an x10 psc05 hooked up to the elk main board with a home made cable. I have never really confirmed that this can control an x10 device even though I've rechecked the cable pins order and tried.

- The EZRain doc says its valves are controllable by "group commands from an Insteon controller". Can the elk send out such commands?

I've enabled the x10 mode on the EZrain but when I try to "pair it" by sending 3 consecutive on commands through an elk rule it never seems to be caught. I've set a light type to "Standard" and simply tested a rule that had "Turn on C1 light" 3 times.

Can any one let me know what I can do further to test or what I'm doing wrong?

thanks in advance

Mike

I now have 30+ sprinklers attached to my Elk. Started using UPB - really poor support for UPB via the Elk - no confirmation of receipt, came on when not requested, never know when they were really on. Can't imagine any x10 based system will be any better.
In the end, I added more relays. They work great - never a problem. And if you want to do belts and braces, you can use the elk-924, and use one out to control the 24V to the solenoid, and the other to trigger a zone on the Elk to let you know that the relay closed. In this case, if you are only driving one sprinkler at a time, you can get away with just one zone, otherwise you will need an additional zone for each sprinkler.
