Elk output 3 not working consistently

I've searched and searched and cannot find any mention of this problem anywhere. I have output 3 on the ELk connected to my garage door opener switch. I am activating output 3 using a GEC-NX-470 keyfob via the rules. 50% of the time it works on the first try but the other 50% it takes three tries. Here's the weird thing though: if it doesn't work on the first try, it always takes two more attempts, always. I have seen several articles on here mentioning this method of garage door opening and I'm pretty sure I have it set up right but you never know. It's not a reception issue with my M1XRF2G as it happens when I'm standing right next to it. Also, I can hear the output click almost every time it fails to operate the garage door. Any ideas?

It is so nice to have a place to go for information, you guys rock. I just wanted you all to know I don't take this forum (or its members) for granted. Thanks and God Bless.

When you hear the relay click, is it an instantaneous click or do you hear it click on then off approx 1 second later? Most should be about 1 second later.

What kind of button/control do you have on the wall? Some of the fancier new ones with clocks and light controls and all that aren't as simple. Also some people have reported better results tapping into the wires at the opener and not the wall button.

Your opener could also be to blame - have you tried just hooking up two wires and playing with touching them together? My last house had a 25yr old opener that was weird - you had to press the button at least twice - sometimes like 5 times before it'd go through... but it was a minimum of 2; and if it got confused it was like you had to keep pressing it to cycle through options (flashing the light and other weird things). Easiest fix on that one was just replacing the annoying thing with a more current one.

If you're still having trouble, there's always the option of using the remote hack to cause the pressing of a button in an extra wireless garage door opener.
