ELK XSP and Multiple Omnistat2 Thermostats Problem

I recently purchased and installed three HAI Omnistat2 RC-1000 thermostats. Regarding connection to the Elk, I can get each one to individually connect thru the XSP correctly except for the fact they will only work at 300 baud.

When I connect two thermostats they both report status through the Elk keypad correctly. They still only connect at 300 baud.

My problem is when I connect all three together. Only the first two thermostats report status correctly thru the Elk keypad. The third reports 'Not Enabled'. Each has a unique address (1,2,3) and speed is set to 300 baud.

Could it be inadequate power when all three are connected?

Thanks for the help!

Well ... maybe I solved this. Per the XSP installation doc, I added the rules for setting back the thermostats when the system is armed away. I previously added the rules for the first two thermostats but not for the third. I just updated the rules with the third thermostat. Voila ... the third thermostat is reporting status correctly.

Seems strange a rule is needed to 'activate' the thermostat.

Also, still not sure why 2400 baud does not work. I did change the XSP jumpers to try 2400 but I never got the thermostats to respond correctly.

Scott,

I'm only connecting one Omnistat2 to my Elk and like you, can only get it to work at 300 baud. I have verified every setting, both on the Stat and XSP multiple times. I'm beginning to think there is a noise issue on the RS-232 stat lines. The lengh of my cable between my XSP and Stat is roughly 8 feet. I'm not sure if there would be an advantage running at either 1200 or 2400 baud as the stat response at 300 works just fine... but it sure would be nice to know why it's not working as it should.
