Has anyone had any issues installing the RM setup utility on Vista. I had not originally loaded the utiilty with the RM. I installed the utility today and it won't open up. Any ideas?

First, I don't think it runs on x64... you didn't specify though which you had.

If you're on 32-bit, then try right-clicking the icon and doing Run as Administrator - that help with some apps; I guess I only run it on my XP computers; haven't tried Vista or W7 just yet - but if you don't get it soon, I'll experiment a little.

Okay, there's my problem. I have a 64 bit machine. I wonder when Elk will address the problem, or will they? Thanks for your help. I guess I'll see what Elk plans on doing or else buy a different laptop for my Elk programming. Thanks.

I realize this isn't the best solution, but before you buy another machine, look at running a virtual machine. Something like Virtual Box. It is free and would allow you to run a 32bit OS if needed.

I was able to get it running on a virtual machine on top of a 64 bit platform. It is a good time to start using virtual machines, they are getting more efficient and are already a useful tool for preventing one process from crashing another.

That said, perhaps we should all get together and buy Elk Products a 64 bit machine for their test pass. Or maybe someone who has one can volunteer for their next beta. It is an unfortunate side of this industry, but almost everyone is trying to do too much with little to no resources. We(not just DIYers, but everyone) are forcing companies to do more with less, but there is a limit. We shouldn't expect so much from smaller operations, they only compete in perception with the larger players. Instead we should be happy that they exist, offer innovation, and force everyone else to compete.
