Here's what I'm not clear on. Please look at the following pic:
My house was prewired and this is what I have at each window. There is no slack, so I really can't pull any more wire out, but I can't push the wires back into the wall either. From what I think I'm understanding, the way to install the resistor... at least at this location in the pic.. would be to get a separate piece of wire, connect the current wiring to the resistor, then the resistor to a small piece of wire, then the small piece of wire to the contact. After all this, shove the resistor and extra wire into the wall.
Is this right? Or am off in left field somewhere?
The problem is that I cannot push anything back into the wall.
Now... with all this said, are the resistors really necessary? Can this system be configured without them?
And aside from a nail accidentally shorting the wires or some cat burgular drilling through the brick wall to short wires together, is there really a good reason for using the resistors anyway?
