Ex Range Temp/Humidity Sensitivity

Hi -

I've got an ER Temp/Humidity sensor installed outside, under the roof overhang. Everything seems to work fine - temp and humidity seem to be correct (i have no way to verify the humidity other than when its raining, its high humidity ;).

I've written an application that listens to notifications from the OPII. When I get an ExtendedStatus message in I log the "before" humidity and the "after" humidity.

The ER Temp/Humidity sensor seems to be very sensitive. I'll get quite a few notifications of humidity and temp changes that toggle back and forth 1 unit, something like this:

Humidity: Before 37 After 36
Humidity: Before 36 After 37
Humidity: Before 37 After 36
Humidity: Before 36 After 37
Humidity: Before 37 After 38
...

This can happen multiple times per minute, maybe 10 max.

It in and of itself is not an issue. I'm wondering about the sensitivity of the sensor. I do not have shielded wire running to it (I used Cat6). Is it really that sensitive or is this a result of not having shielded cable?

Thx,
Chris

Chris...I had same curiousity about sensitivy when I was getting ready to mount some so I wired up 3 units next to each other to see if they were consistent in their reading. To my surprise, they tracked each other perfectly. If they were wrong, at least they were all wrong by the same amount. Like you, I had no way to validate the humidity reading I was getting so I compared my readings to the readings from a NOAA weather station about 2 miles from my house. Not perfect situation but I expected the reading to be reasonably close. In fact, they were very close.
