I also use a Rain8Net w/ serial connection. I had my landscaper bring the wires into the basement and then we hooked up everything directly. Currently I'm using the standard version of McsSprinklers w/ plans of eventually transitioning to jkish's templates in CQC.
The limitations of MCSsprinklers is you can only run one program. I'd like to water the lawn just a few days a week, but my vegetable garden daily. Right now I have to manually turn on the garden one on days not programmed. I'm pretty sure Jkish's will allow multiple programs. I needed the standard version to allow me to control two main valves/pumps (I have one for the city water zones, and one to activate the well pump)
