Hi everyone I need some inputs..

Last night, I had an alarm company showing my a Z-wave alarm system. I was wondering if anyone have any experience with such system?

http://www.2gig.com/

I was initially planning installing a HAI for everything like alarm, light control, etc.. using UPB. Seem that Z-wave can be a good complement to UPB. Installing a Z-wave alarm system seem to be much more convenient (Simple) but not want to limit my options.

Any good or bad feedback about this system as a main alarm system?

Any good alternative?

What was the price?

The quote I had was for $907.20 and include the following:

3 door contact Z-Wave
2 motion Z-Wave
1 somke Z-Wave
2 Key chain remote
2 Glass Break
1 Pannel

And they need me so sign a 5 years monitoring contract a $39.95/month including cellular connectivity in the system and full access to the automation module of the unit.

This bring the deal at $3304.20 at the end of the agreement. At that price I think I might have better options??

I'm not interested in a 5 year deal so I'll most likely not deal with them but the device seem to be good??? Maybe I can buy the pannel online somehwere and do a self install?? And the installation seem so easy that I do not require their services for that.

What I like about this system the pannel is a touch screen and there are not buttons clutter. Look clean and simple. Maybe I simply never came across other options?

It's a pretty nice system (and completely wireless), and it interfaces with alarm.com, who offers a nice app for each popular smartphone platform. Just keep in mind that you can't interface it with any home automation software. I am assuming you factored in the cost of wireless sensors into your HAI estimate?

Thanks for the reply. If I can't interface with any otehr automation software then I'll have to pass and look for something else. I guess I now have to look for a touch screen pannel as it's something I really liked on this unit.

The 2GIG panel seems to be a really nice panel for what it is. My friend installed on recently and I got to look at it before he installed it and it seemed pretty well made.

For someone just looking for an alarm panel with limited (but robust for what it is) automation its something to look at.

Hopefully this will inspire other mfg's to make similar products that can interface with other automation systems.
