Haiku Gong Sound

On Haiku I have started to get this gong sound whenever the application is running. Maybe ever 30 to 60 seconds.  I even hear it when the volume on my iPad is off.  I have no idea the cause. How do I stop it?  (I am not talking about the "twinkle" sound I get when I arm or disarm the system.)

I would love a way to silence Haiku completely without silencing iOS as a whole.

Why do I need sounds when I am looking at the app directly?

The only use for sounds in Haiku would be if I had a iPad mounted on the wall which I don't, not counting push alerts from HH which are handled separately.

I mentioned message beep being annoying before because almost all of my message are sent without beep yet Haiku still beeps, but after further thought I simply don't want Haiku to make any noises, they serve no purpose other than to wake up my spouse when I open the app in bed to arm the house.

Perhaps its a zone not ready sound? Do you maybe have some motion detectors set as Perimeter/Entry/Exit zones?

@jharrell: We'll see about adding an option for this in the future.

PS. In the mean time you can use the "Do Not Disturb" feature to avoid the sounds at night I think ;)

luping you have mentioned silencing iOS or DnD before, this is really not useful.

Remembering to DnD before opening Haiku is just not feasible, plus it it silences important things like calls and text messages, which my spouse will want to know about ;)

Haiku beeping at me while I am staring at it is not useful in any way, and extremely annoying. It is an anti-feature, sounds are for getting your attention when your are not looking at the device.

Zone not ready? Could be because I use several zones for various triggers, but it really doesn't mean much. Like I have a bed sensor to detect bed occupancy (controls bedroom speaker announcement volume and bedroom ceiling fan). But didn't want to run wires from the bed to panel so use a wireless sensor. Works great, but I don't want a bed not ready gong.

On sounds in general, I agree with a silence feature, and the iPad DnD features DOES NOT quiet Haiku.  I often use my iPad in bed when my wife is sleeping.  Even when the iPad is muted AND DnD is ON, it will still make this loud gong sound every 30 seconds.  I don't care what it is so much as I want to quiet it.  If I don't close Haiku 30 seconds after opening it, it will gong.

It does not make the sound for zones not ready unless they are entry/exit type zones (i.e. perimeter).

The other thing that could be causing it is messages.

We'll look at adding a sound mute feature in the next update.
