With the 2G going away. What are the options for 4G for an M1G. Need to order one ASAP. I hear a lot about uplink, but the serial connectivity is going away....
4500, 4500EZ, what other ones....

Thanks

GSM will be running in the U.S. until at LEAST 2017, so there is no rush.  MANY MANY telamatic devices in the U.S. only support GSM and wireless operators are contractually obligated to support these devices until then, and this date will likely be extended.  You might want to wait till it gets closer to 2017 when you'll find many great cheaper solutions that aren't even available now.

If your wireless provider knows you are using GSM equipment, and they know your equipment whenever it connects to their network, they will contact you LONG before service ends. They may even offer to give you free new equipment.  Of course if you are using a pre-paid account, your on your own.

I haven't contacted my vendor regarding Uplink products in a bit, but on their dealer site there used to be a 4500 and a 4500EZ, with the difference being serial interface, so I'm not sure if that's still the case and they exist.

Is 4500ez dial capture?
If 4500 is a 4G technology why is it being discontnued? I can still still get the 4500. Are they coming out with a new one with serial interface?
I just need to pull the trigger....

the 4530 is dialer capture, cell primary. The 4550 is dialer capture with telco passthru (typically cellular backup).

The 4500EZ is bell sample/summary reporting only.

As I said, there used to be a 4500 that had a serial, but the last I looked, I couldn't see it on the dealer side, so I'm unsure if it exists still.

I can still get 4500. I was quoted by a big distributor. Supposedly they have them.
Just wondering why is being discontinued?

The 4500 is not listed here. But I wonder if your "big distributor" can get the 4550?

I finally decided on the 4550 (my thread), but I am trying to find it cheaper than $192 ...

The 4500 is still listed in all the dealer distribution, however it's not clear if the units still offer the serial port or if the "EZ" was ported into the 4500 part #.

According to uplink. 4500ez is similar to 2500 with 4g capabilities it does have serial port and would require 4500CAB Cable to interface with m1g.

Sounds like they combined former p/n's and units to a single platform. I haven't had to check my distribution for those units since before Xmas.
