So my house is a UPB black hole. NO signal from one phase to the other. With the help of THREE non-inverting phase couplers in parallel, I can get an opposite phase signal of about 4, enough to work, but certainly not good.
So when I saw these repeaters I got all excited, but I have ALL Gen1 Simply Automated switches and a Simply Automated PIM.
From what I read on the net, it seemed to say this Split-Phase repeater would only slightly work at best unless I had Gen II switches, which I don't have.
Maybe out of stupidity I bought the PCS SPR-3 for $400+ I was fully expecting it to do absolutely nothing, in which case I'd pack it back up and return it.
So plugged it in, and noticed it had a setup button not mentioned at all in the instructions. So I pressed it 5 times to put it in setup mode and I started UPStart, found it on my network, and set it up.
Anyway, to make a long story short, it worked great. I switched off my couplers, and my signal was fantastic everywhere. From PIM to switch, switch to switch, and switch to PIM. All switch changes were picked up by CQC and my HAI panel.
So, why does it work so well? Did PCS modify the firmware to support Gen I devices better? (The instructions say nothing about Gen II or Gen I)
