Is the HAI 47A00-1 wireless PIR appropriate to mount externally to facilitate automation of my front porch light? I just want to activate the light on motion and turn it off after a set amount of time. The PIR would be protected from the direct elements ... but it would be outdoors. This is in Socal so its pretty dry.

I already have a wireless receiver so it would be a snap to add this in and set up the automation commands.

What do you all think?

I use HAI panel hard wired multiple Optex outdoor motion sensors and they work well for the outdoor lighting in the MW

The sensors have "weathered" well in the last 5 or so years.

I use a few if then statements mixed in with a couple of flags and timers in my HAI programming lines.

Thinking along the same regarding wireless / wireless PIR for FL if I cannot HW them. I have 4-5 dual spot lights 2 floors up in the corners of the home under the eaves with indoor switches and 120VAC PIRs on them. Ideally would like to automate these a bit. Though humidity there is high - salt air eats everthing outside. I replaced two garage coach lights a couple of months back. The house is about 8 years old and the ones I removed were so rusty inside and out that they fell apart when I removed them.

Outdoor hot and dry (socal) the wireless PIR's should weather fine is my guess.

Thanks Pete. I am going to give one a try. I need to figure something out for the side door and the back door... no way to keep a sensor out of the rain there really. I might just have to put in stand alone units.
