The HA SwitchPlate is a user-programmable LCD touchscreen you can mount into a standard North American work box in place of a light switch. It connects to your home automation system over WiFi to send and receive MQTT messages in response to user interactions on the screen or events happening in your home. The result is an attractive and highly-customizable controller for your home automation system which you can build yourself!

Very nice.

Officially you can now purchase a WiFi switch with MQTT built in to the OS from Bulgaria.  Not sure if they have UL approval here in the US yet.

Just found out about this company.  I think they are the first to include MQTT in their WiFi switch basic firmware.

I have noticed that many folks are not that interested in JTAGing and soldering tiny wires to modify switches with ESPEasy, Tasmota or ESPurna firmware.

Shelly WiFi switches.

No DIY or JTAgging involved with this switch to utilize MQTT.

Most difficult to JTAG and modify were the MagicHome RGB controller where the solder pads are marked but very tiny.

The WiFi board used in this project is well labeled and made for the tinkerer.

A Homeseer user testing the Shelly switches mentions that MQTT is part of the stock OS of the Shelly switches such that you have the choice of using the Shelly cloud or keeping your automation at home.

The user manuals make no mention of MQTT but the API mentions it.

It looks similiar to the ESPEasy, Tasmota and ESPurna WiFi firmware.
