HomeTroller Boot Error

Every time I restart my HomeTroller I get the following error:

svchost.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x7c918fca" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate the program.

Does anybody know what would cause this? Do I have to flash the OS and start from scratch to get a clean boot?

Usually, that error can be traced back to spyware/malware, but not sure about this specific error. Is there anything else in the event log?

This error can also be caused by an AntiVirus engine scanning in use memory. If you have the restore flash drive you should be able to restore in just a few minutes and be back to normal.

Yes I have the flash drive but it will take a lot longer than a few minutes. I'm pretty sure the AT&T voices put some bits on C, even though the voices are installed to a usb drive, aso they will have to be restored by running the install again. (took an hour per voice the first time). I also use Kavoom instead of VNC because it is a lot faster to hot key between machines so I have to put that back as well. I guess I will just have to go for it.

I don't use HomeTroller, but do use HomeSeer on a dedicated PC, and have been getting a similar error periodically, since about 2.3.44 or so. I also got a generic host process error, but haven't seen that for some time. I thought it was .55 causing it, and I don't recall seeing anything like this until I installed .55, but I still get it sometimes now that I have gone back to .44.

When I posted a note about this on the HS board, Rupp commented that he thought it was spyware / malware, and I argued that this was highly unlikely. I've since tried two separate, additional AntiVirus programs since then, and they've found nothing.

So... I'm NOT saying that this is the beta of HS causing this. I'm just saying that it didn't start until I installed a recent beta, and I've been unable to find anything else thus far.

I am on a HomeTroller specific build of Homeseer (2.2.0.135) but it is not a beta. If I have to use the flash restore on the C drive anyway, it would be nice to get a newer copy that includes .net 3.5 so I can run the ISY plugin.

I believe Rich is working on the new install with that version of the .net framework. Maybe put in a help desk ticket asking where he is with this build.
