HouseLinc 2 is now available for purchase.

SmartHome is now officially selling HouseLinc 2, their INSTEON network management software. It looks like it requires a HouseLinc 2-enabled INSTEON PowerLinc Modem, but is included in the kit.

Some of the new features are:

• New and Improved Device Support: More features for more products, and support for drag and drop.
• Schedule lights to turn on and off at specific times and create lighting events.
• HouseLinc/PLM (PowerLinc Modem) scenes - HouseLinc events now support simultaneous response for all scene members. These scenes are especially handy for events containing a large number of INSTEON devices that you may wish to include in a number of events.
• Background link management: Adding devices, creating links and building scenes all update in the background freeing up your desktop allowing you to make changes within the software even during network synchronization.
• Computer must remain on for timers and triggered events.
• Contains HouseLinc 2 software plus HouseLinc 2-enabled INSTEON PowerLinc Modem.
• Set up and maintenance of button grouping, button toggle/non-toggle mode, and 6- or 8-button mode selection.

The kit is selling for $159, but there is a rebate for customers who already own the original version, which will give you the amount you paid for your upgrade kit. The rebate program expires 12/31/2008.
